I set out to create a dynamic promo video that captured the essence of the Arts & Justice Festival, celebrating community, joy, and rest. The challenge was to convey the festival's diverse activities and its mission of inclusivity in a short and engaging format. I partnered with Bear Secunda to handle all still photography acoss the two day festival.
The Arts & Justice Collective, based on Cape Cod, MA, uses collective strengths, missions, and resources to empower communities and create a culture of belonging for historically-excluded groups through art and social justice. The inaugural Arts & Justice Festival, held in July 2023, featured events like art exhibits, fashion shows, and community programs.
Understanding the collective's mission and the diverse events of the festival laid the foundation for the video's storyline. My strategy involved highlighting key moments that encapsulated the spirit of the festival, from the art exhibits to the vendor markets.
As the videographer and editor, I documented key events and crafted a narrative that emphasized the festival's themes of community and empowerment. Using a combination of dynamic filming techniques, animation, & editing, I ensured that each segment of the video flowed seamlessly into the next. The editing process was driven by the goal of making the viewer feel immersed in the elevated festival experience.
From beginning to end, the process with Rayviation was organized, professional, and pleasant!
The video and photos that were delivered to the A&J Collective not only served them well on Instagram for marketing and promotion of the festival, but was also provided as a creative resource for all participating artists and vendors to have access high quality, dynamic media of their showcased talents at no additional cost. The additional benefit of this was allowing the images to proliferate across networks without price being a barrier for entry.
Working with the Arts & Justice Collective showcased the power of video to amplify community-driven initiatives. The collaboration was a testament to the impact of visual storytelling in promoting social justice and inclusivity.
The promo video significantly boosted engagement and participation, reflecting the collective's impact on the community. It also served as a promotional tool that attracted new audiences and supporters for future events.
